Mobile computing has grown hugely over the last decade. Nearly 5 billion mobile phones exist in the world today with that number growing every day. If there has ever been an untapped market, this is the one.
It took years before any of the big three (Apple, Microsoft and Google) really looked at mobile computing seriously. Apple introduced their OS back in the early 2000s with Google and Microsoft following behind. Their delayed entrance to this market (especially Microsoft’s) has been the biggest blunder in mobile computing history.
So where to go for Windows Mobile OS?
The Windows mobile operating system did not strike the same chord that Apple, and to some extent, Google did with the general consumer. It’s not quite clearly how Microsoft are going to go about doing this but I do have my predictions.
- Consumerism
- User Functionality
- Applications
Microsoft will be the first to truly pioneer the mobile phone as a tool for purchasing goods and services all across the world.
Microsoft will attempt to make mobile computing more intuitive for the user.
Microsoft will develop a series of incredibly powerful applications available to only Microsoft OS users
